He was in a freak motorcycle accident in the mountains near Leavenworth, WA. A man on the road side hurled a bicycle in front of his 2006 Harley. Luckily, he walked away with just minor cuts and bruises...the bike wasn't so lucky, it looked like a piece of abstract art, with the bicycle wedged in the front end! In an interview, he said he was just missed by an 18 wheeler and refused medical treatment.

The fully customized, one of a kind, 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S, by Kip Sheward Motorsports, was nicknamed the JC Sinister, and is the very car that John Reese stole in Person of Interest episode, "Bury The Lede" (s02-e05)! I guess you could says that John Reese stole Jim Caviezels car!

He became a household name in 2004, in Mel Gibson's controversial film, The Passion of the Christ (in the roll of Jesus), a film portraying the final hours of Jesus Christ's life.

After moving to Hollywood, he met Father Lawrence Jenco, the Catholic priest who had been held hostage in Lebanon for 19 months in the mid-1980s. Jenco introduced him to Chuck Weber, a USC professor, who offered Jim a place to stay while he got his feet on the ground. He was supposed to only stay for a couple months, but ended up staying for almost 6 years!
